About Mark David Gerson

Mark David Gerson
Life, Writing & Creativity Coach
Through nearly two decades of coaching, classes and workshops in the U.S. and Canada, Mark David Gerson has helped writers in all genres and at all levels of experience to deepen their creativity, move through creative blocks and strengthen their writing.
Poets and playwrights, novelists and educators, amateurs and professionals, people who don't believe they can write and people with a compelling call to write - all have benefited from working with him, as have non-writers seeking to move through life's challenges and awaken to their highest potential.
Mark David has taught at colleges, universities, churches and community centers from Nova Scotia to Hawaii, as well as to groups over the phone via teleconference, and has worked with coaching clients on three continents.
"I believe anyone can write," Mark David says. "We're all innately creative. We all have powerful stories to tell. Sometimes, though, life gets in the way."
When that happens, Mark David's deep wisdom, intuitive skills and personal experiences of blocked creativity ("I hated writing throughout my school years"), along with all the practical tools and techniques he has developed over the years, come together to inspire and motivate his clients to answer their call to write.
Mark David brings more than 30 years' experience as a professional writer, editor and editorial consultant to his coaching practice. He has been published in dozens of magazines and newspapers in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. and has also worked with a wide range of corporate, government, publication and institutional clients.
Mark David's novel, The MoonQuest, the first book in his Q’ntana Trilogy, has won five awards, including a New Mexico Book Award and a Gold Medal in the Independent Publishers Book Awards. His screenplay adaptation of the book is in active development for feature-film production by Anvil Springs Entertainment. He’s currently working on a memoir and on the remaining two books and screenplays in the trilogy.
Mark David's nonfiction book, The Voice of the Muse: Answering the Call to Write, also an award-winner, is based on his years of teaching and coaching. It's been acclaimed by writers, writers' groups, publishers and critics for its unique blend of inspiration and instruction and has been recommended as the "wise guide any writer would dream of."
To complement his Voice of the Muse book, Mark David has recorded The Voice of the Muse Companion, a 2-CD compilation of instruction and guided meditations for writers.
"There are no rules," Mark David says of the writing experience. "There is no right way or wrong way to create. There is only the way that works for you each time you sit down to write. My job is to help you open to the vast inner resources that will always guide you forward on your creative journey...if you let them."

You have a story to tell.
It doesn't matter if you don't know what it is. That's why I'm here.
It doesn't matter that what you know of it scares you. That's also why I am here.
It doesn't matter that you don't know how to begin if you haven't begun, how to continue if you've already started or how to complete if you find yourself stuck. That, too, is why I am here.
